FHMS Band Notes: January 14, 2012

·         No Sectionals on Tuesday- tomorrow (we have a meeting at the KISD administration building with all KISD band directors)

·         Regular Sectionals on Wednesday and Thursday

·         JAZZ BAND PRACTICE – Thursday after school 1.17

·         Early Release Friday 1.18

·         No school next Monday or next Tuesday 1.21 and 1.22

·         Full Band Rehearsal for Wind Ensemble – Wednesday 1.23 (extra practice)

·         Regular sectionals for Honor band on Wednesday and Thursday 1.23 and 1.24

·         JAZZ BAND practice 1.24 after school

SPRING TRIPS

May 8^th……………..The Symphonic and Honor Band will be going to NRH20 in May for a band contest.  Each student will need to pay 21.00 to cover their entry into the park for the day.  Students will also need to bring food items or money for lunch.  Modest swim wear is required.  Money will be due by Feb. 28^th if your child is planning on participating in this event.  (CHAPERONES are needed.  Chaperones must pay 16.00 to get into NRH20)

May 7……………….Wind Ensemble will go to the Murchison Band Festival in May for a band contest and will need 14.00 to cover their entry fee to the contest.  This will be our honor band recording session and a great experience for all of our young performers.  The entry fee will be due by Feb. 28^th.  (CHAPERONES are needed)

May 11……………..Wind Ensemble will go to SIX FLAGS over TEXAS at 9am on a KISD school bus.  Student tickets are 28.50.  All money for the tickets must be paid for by March 22^nd.  If you have a season pass, you can use it on this day.  (CHAPERONES are needed.  Chaperones must also pay the price of admission)

Feb. 12^th – PRE UIL at Timber Creek (still need chaperones)

PRE UIL FAMILY CONCERT………………Feb. 28^th

JAZZ BAND CONTEST……………..March 1^st  (still need chaperones)

UIL ……………….March 4^th and 5^th  (still need chaperones)

SOLO CONTEST is April 13^th
