*Pep Rallies are during the school day from 2:30- 3:30pm
*Sectionals are once a week, every week of the school year from 3:35-4:1 pm or from 4:15- 5:00 or from 7:30 – 8:20am – I determine this schedule the first week of school
*Special Rehearsals before UIL
*PTA music presentation
*Sectionals are subject to change in December.
Please put these dates on your calendar as soon as possible to avoid any conflicts.
Please avoid doing major dental work before a
concert or a contest, if at all possible

Fossil Hill Band Win's National Honor

Bands from Indian Springs Middle School and Fossil Hill Middle School each have been selected as national winners of the Mark of Excellence National Wind Band Honors. Vanessa Frost, a flute soloist with the Fossil Hill Ensemble was chosen as the outstanding soloist.

Fossil Hill received the honor for the first time and was under the direction of Darlene Janeski, Eric Boyd and Melissa Bullock.

Choice Music Events' third annual Mark of Excellence Contest was an outstanding success due to the participation of many fine high school and middle school bands, choirs, and orchestras across the nation. The Mark of Excellence recorded music contest offers bands, choirs, and orchestras the unprecedented opportunity to earn national recognition for their musical achievement while creating a unique, competitive environment that allows ensembles to compare their performance quality to that of other outstanding groups from across the country.

Top ensembles will be recognized in national publications and at national and regional conventions.

Congratulations Vanessa Frost

Last year Vanessa Frost was chosen as the outstanding soloist for the Choice Music Events. If anyone knows how to contact her now, please email me. I would like to present her with two certificates. I know she has moved to N. or S. Carolina.

Band at Murchison

Fossil Hill Honors 1 Band received straight 1's at the Murchison band
contest in Denton on Thursday, May 15th.
They were also named the outstanding 3C band at the contest.
The Percussion section was named as the outstanding section
and flutist, Vanessa Frost was named the outstanding musician.
Congratulation band for all of your hard work!

Sandy Lake Success

All bands at Fossil Hill Middle and at Chisholm Trail Intermediate school
received straight 1's at the Sandy Lake band contest on Friday, April 18th.
Special thanks to all of the wonderful students at both schools
and to Mr. Boyd and Mrs. Bullock for all of their hard work!
Special thanks to the wonderful chaperones who accompanied us to the contest!
