Football Game for EVERYONE!!!!!
 
 
On Friday October 11th, you are invited to watch the Fossil Ridge High School marching band as they perform at a home football game.
SCHEDULE
 

  •  Wear jeans and our Fossil Hill band shirt.
  •  No instruments needed – just bring money for concessions

 
*All times are approximate other than arrival time.
 
6:30 p.m. - Meet at the main entrance to Keller High School Stadium.
 
6:40 p.m. – All students in line on the north side of the stadium (against the fence) Everyone walks together to the stadium. Sit by section. Ex. Flutes with flutes, etc.
 
7:00 p.m. - Star Spangled Banner, fight song, and school song are played by Fossil Ridge HS.
7:30p.m. – Kick off of game.  FHMS band students will sit together with the FRHS band students and enjoy an awesome game.  Band students get in FREE!!!!!!!!!!
 
STUDENT PICK UP…………..AFTER the 3rd quarter. After the 3rd quarter, we will dismiss the students to the WEST side of the stadium entrance to meet with their parents.  Please be ready to pick up your child from the front of the stadium at a timely manner.  They must sign out with a director.

All District Auditions are

Saturday, October 19th

For……FHMS WIND ENSEMBLE STUDENTS ONLY

The contest is held at ……..Hillwood Middle School

 

·         You have been assigned to a GROUP….you must play in that group!_______group #

·         _______ROOM NUMBER

·         All District Honor Band Auditions will be November 3rd at Hillwood Middle School

·         Students wear regular school clothes – please do not wear any article of clothing that says “FHMS or Fossil Hill”

·         You must arrive at least 30 minutes prior to your starting time

·         You will play scales (2 major) a Chromatic scale the full range _____ to _____ and then you will play a portion of each one of your All District Etudes.

·         Bring your instrument, music and a pencil so that you can mark the “cuts of music” that they have selected.  You will not have to play the entire piece.  You will also want to notate which MAJOR scales you will play for the judges.  (2 of them- from memory)

·         Once you arrive, find your audition room and check in with the judge

·         You are assigned a GROUP # and a specific time to play.

·         I have no idea when you will finish, it usually takes 1 hour once you have entered the audition room.

·         Please eat a healthy breakfast

·         Warm up in the cafeteria / auditorium before you play

·         After you play, you may leave.

·         Don’t get nervous………..you will do great!

 

***Please remind your students and PARENTS that we will not start BEFORE this time. However due to standard audition delays, that it is normal to fall as much as a half hour behind starting in the later groups.

There is a repairman there on duty to fix any issues with instruments that might

arise the day of the competition

Wind Ensemble Notes:  Janeski

Band Reminders………..

1.       This is the 5th week of the 1st 6 weeks (already!!!). Please verify that your student is passing each of their classes – including band.

2.       Practice charts are due each week during their sectional.  (there is no parent signature required)

3.       T-shirts are here and will be passed out this week!  Students will need to wear them on October 1st for our KISD Marching Expo.

4.       Some points for the October 1st Marching Expo event:

·         Tickets for parents are $5.00 and proceeds will help to support KISD Fine Arts. Tickets may be purchased in advance (strongly encouraged) through your student’s band class.  (you can send a check or pay with cash)

·         You will also have the option to participate in an exciting raffle. Tickets are $2.00 each and the winner will receive an entire year of once per week, 30 minute free private lessons taught by an approved KISD instructor! Raffle tickets are only available at the event and you must be present to win.

·         Band Uniform is: FHMS Band T-shirt, Jeans, Comfortable Tennis Shoes (no flip-flops)

·         (Optional) 4:45 p.m. – Staying after school is not mandatory, but students will have the option to meet in the FHMS Band Hall to eat pizza. Each student will need to bring $5 cash for pizza.

o   ****Concessions will not be available for band students so please eat between 3:40 – 5:30, whether at home or with the band.

·         5:15 p.m. – Students report to FHMS Band Hall

·         5:30 p.m. – Students load buses with:

o   Instrument

o   2 Clothes Pins (provided by FHMS)

o   Plastic music protector sheet with Hey Song and China Grove.

o   Correct band uniform (Band T-shirt/Jeans/Comfortable sneakers)

·         6:00 p.m. – arrive at KISD Stadium in KISD transportation (500 Pate Orr Rd N Keller, TX 76248) – see map on back for directions from FHMS.

·         6:10 p.m. – Students will be seated in the stands – on the visitor side.

·         6:30 p.m. – Marching Expo begins Fossil Hill plays first, so if a student is late, they will not get to perform!  

·         ***8th Grade Boys Football students will be excused from this event as they have a game that evening***

·         ALL STUDENTS WILL NEED TO BE PICKED UP AT KELLER STADIUM AT THE END OF THE EVENT – 8:40 p.m.  WE WILL NOT BE RETURNING BY BUS TO FHMS.

·         Students will be picked up following the grand finale in the parking lot on the visitor side of the stadium. Maps were sent home with the students, but if you would like another, please let me know and I am happy to send another home, or electronically via PDF.

6.       Private lessons are still available on every instrument.  Please contact us if you would like your child to take private music lessons.  We are still trying to hire:  flute, bassoon, horn and percussion private teachers.

Honor Band Notes: Mullins

Honor Band has gotten off to a great start this year! A few reminders are listed below:

1.       This is the 5th week of the 1st 6 weeks (already!!!). Please verify that your student is passing each of their classes – including band.

On the back of each practice chart is an easy music theory worksheet that should also be completed. Practice charts are to be completely filled out and then signed by you at the end of each week. This year, they are due on Friday.

3.       Any unpaid t-shirt money should be taken care of immediately. T-shirts are being printed as week speak and will be ready by our October 1st KISD Marching Expo.

a.       Flute/Oboe: Monday 3:45 – 4:30

b.       Trumpet/Horn: Tuesday 3:45 – 4:30

c.       Clarinet/Saxophone: Wednesday 3:45 – 4:30

d.       Trombone/Euphonium/Tuba/Bass Clarinet/Tenor Saxophone: Thursday 3:45 – 4:30

*Please try to avoid Doctors appointments and other out of school events during this time where possible.

6.       Private lessons are still available on every instrument, and though not required, they are strongly encouraged for Honor Band level students. This is a high caliber performing group and the success is directly related to participation in this enrichment activity.
