FRHS Band "Makeup" Parent 101 Meeting – Now offered at two times

In the FRHS Bandhall

The makeup meeting has been scheduled for May 30th.  It has been brought to my attention that FHMS parents have another unrelated meeting to attend earlier the same evening.  Rather than reschedule again, I will condense the presentation to 1 hour and offer it at two different times the same evening, giving our FHMS parents a chance to attend the later meeting.

·         May 14th Jazz Band will have one final rehearsal after school 3:45 – 5:00pm

·         May 16th -Spring Concert at Fossil Ridge 6:30pm (arrive at 6pm)

o   Students will wear their solid black dress concert uniform

6:30 Symphonic Band

7:10 Wind Ensemble

7:45 Jazz Band

(make sure you bring your treats if you signed up to bring something)

 

·         May 23rd- Recording session for Wind Ensemble at Fossil Ridge 6pm-8pm (time changed)

o   Wear FHMS band t-shirt and black dress pants- we have to have a formal uniform on in order to record according to the audition panel.

FHMS Wind Ensemble Named OUTSTANDING Middle School Band


Fossil Hill Middle School Wind Ensemble 

  Named Outstanding Middle School Band at

Peak Music Festival


On May 7, the Fossil Hill Middle School Wind Ensemble was selected as the Best in Class recipient at the Peak Music Festival at the University of North Texas, Murchison Hall.  

The Wind Ensemble from Fossil Hill Middle School is made up of 75 young musicians,  grades 7 and 8.  These students have had a very successful year.  They also recently received a Sweepstakes Trophy from UIL for their outstanding performance of three selections:  Dorchester Concert March by Osterling, Glaciers by Director, and Shepherd’s Hey by Grainger. 

At the Peak Music Festival in Denton, several of the band’s fine soloists were chosen as outstanding soloist.  They are:  Lori Vu – flute, Nicholas DeWalt- alto saxophone, and Calvin Franz- trumpet.  Outstanding musician certificates were provided for these fine musicians.  French Horn, Percussion, Trumpet, and Saxophone sections were also recognized for their outstanding musicianship by received a Certificate of Merit for their outstanding musical accomplishments. 

Directors Darlene Janeski, Kyle Mullins, Marco Gonzales, and Ben Moore are extremely pleased to have had the opportunity to work with this fine group of students.

 

Wind Ensemble at Peak Music Festival


FHMS Wind Ensemble Rocked at Peak Music Festival!


This is a busy week for all of the groups at FHMS and at CTIS.  Today we have the results for the Wind Ensemble:

 

The FHMS Wind Ensemble went to the prestigious Peak Music Festival held at the University of North Texas and received all 1’s from all three judges.  They were also chosen as the outstanding middle school group at the festival.

 

Some of our soloist were recognized as outstanding soloists at the contest.
