FHMS Wind Ensemble Named OUTSTANDING Middle School Band


Fossil Hill Middle School Wind Ensemble 

  Named Outstanding Middle School Band at

Peak Music Festival


On May 7, the Fossil Hill Middle School Wind Ensemble was selected as the Best in Class recipient at the Peak Music Festival at the University of North Texas, Murchison Hall.  

The Wind Ensemble from Fossil Hill Middle School is made up of 75 young musicians,  grades 7 and 8.  These students have had a very successful year.  They also recently received a Sweepstakes Trophy from UIL for their outstanding performance of three selections:  Dorchester Concert March by Osterling, Glaciers by Director, and Shepherd’s Hey by Grainger. 

At the Peak Music Festival in Denton, several of the band’s fine soloists were chosen as outstanding soloist.  They are:  Lori Vu – flute, Nicholas DeWalt- alto saxophone, and Calvin Franz- trumpet.  Outstanding musician certificates were provided for these fine musicians.  French Horn, Percussion, Trumpet, and Saxophone sections were also recognized for their outstanding musicianship by received a Certificate of Merit for their outstanding musical accomplishments. 

Directors Darlene Janeski, Kyle Mullins, Marco Gonzales, and Ben Moore are extremely pleased to have had the opportunity to work with this fine group of students.
