FHMS Honors Band News - 11/7/2012

 

·          There is a new sectional schedule starting next week that will allow us to combine a few instrument groups as we prepare full band music for UIL contest next semester. Some sectionals will not change day/time.

 

·         Trumpet – Monday: 3:45 – 4:30

·         Flute/Oboe – Tuesday: 3:45 – 4:30

·         Horn – Tuesday: 4:30 – 5:15

·         Clarinet/Saxophone: Wednesday 3:45 – 4:30

·         Trombone/Baritone/Bassoon/Tuba: Thursday: 3:45 – 4:30

 

·         This week, our theory worksheet deals with families of instruments. Check to make sure your student has this complete by next Monday along with their signed practice record. Practice Charts are due Monday each week.

·         Don’t forget to send in your donations for the “GOODIE BAGS”

·         THANKS to all of you that have purchased items for our goodie bags!!!!!!!!!!  The kids LOVE THEM!!!!!!!!

·         SPECIAL THANKS to all of the volunteers that have helped this past week with office work and with the region band!  We appreciate YOU!!!!!!!!!!

·         Round 2 of HB students will be playing in the FHMS pep-rally this Thursday, Nov. 8 during 8^th period. If your student played in round 1, they will attend the pep-rally with their class. If they are in Round 2, they will come to the Band Hall at 2:30 and join the Wind Ensemble.

·         Private lessons are still available for every instrument and highly encouraged! Please call or write if you have any questions about this exciting opportunity!

·         Jazz Band auditions are November 15^th.  (after school) See attachment for more information in regards to Jazz Band.

·         We still have the following items for sale:  water bottles $5.00, lanyards $3.00, and Cinch sacks $8.00

·         WINTER CONCERT is December 17^th at Fossil Ridge High School at 7:00pm – students will wear ALL BLACK from head to toe for the concert.

·         Mrs. Janeski is here every morning to hear MAKE UP playing TESTS.  7:45 – 8:25am

·         Early Dismissal – November 16th

·         School holidays November 19 – 23^rd

·         UIL for Wind Ensemble – March 5^th

·         Jazz Band Contest – March 2^nd
